Have children make up a play about summer and act it out.

Read a story with children. After, have them draw what happened first and what happened last.

Have children draw a picture of bright fireworks in the night sky.

Have children look for five blue things in your room.

Make rubbings of the bark on different types of trees using paper and crayons.

Read a story, pointing out the words the, and, to, and a. Read the story again, and have children point out the words.

Chuck Wood loves numbers. Write the numbers 1 through 10 and have children trace over them in a different color.

Bring in a fruit or vegetable that children may not have seen before. Try it together as a snack.

Have children identify shapes they see around the room, such as circles (orange, cup) or squares (window, table).

What is the temperature? Talk about how we meaure how hot or how cold it is outside using a thermometer.

Have each child make up a dance move to a song and then teach it to a partner.

Group together five objects. Count them together. Then take away one object at a time, counting together with each subtraction.

Have children imagine they get to build their own park. Ask: What would you put in it? Slides? Swings? A dress-up area? Be creative.

Say the nursery rhyme "Little Miss Muffet" with the class. Then encourage children to substitute different names, food, and animals to make new poems.

Bruno uses the Internet to find facts. Use a computer to look up facts about children's favorite foods.

Make hats togethers out of paper. Let children decorate them any way you want to.

Go for an "insect walk." Bring magnifying glasses with you if you have them. Encourage children to share what they find.

Talk about the five senses, and have children recognize as they use each one throughout the day.

Have children walk from a desk to the door, counting footsteps as they go. Record the number of footsteps, and then measure and record other distances throughout your room.

Ask children what they like about summer. Write the answers together in a list.

Choose a letter of the alphabet. Help children look through old magazines to find objects that begin with the letter, cut them out, and make a collages.

Ask children what they would wish for if they had three wishes. Have them draw pictures and then share with a partner.
